The spring wasn't any kinder to her. While the weather was more pleasant, she grew more and more depressed with everyday that passed. Not even the blooming flowers and waking animals could move her from her sadness. Day in and day out was spent aimlessly wandering through the woods where she had fallen. She could barely tell up from down anymore, her life becoming nothing more than a hollow passage of time.
While wandering about one day, she didn't notice that she had stumbled upon a little marshy pond, and fell right it. The ducks nearby made quite a clamour, quickly herding their newly hatched ducklings away from the potential threat. For a moment, she simply sat in the pond, covered in muck. One particularly curious young duck swam over to her, but took to the air when the angel began to cry.

The spring was mild, and spotted with rain. Eventually she gave up on her wings, painfully realizing that they were a lost cause now. Everyday she felt what little magic was left in them draining from them as they pitifully dragged on the ground. She felt oddly at peace with this thought, maybe because her misplaced hope no longer tugged at her heart.
While her heart was a peace, her mind was not. Night and night again she had recurring dreams of flying, of the wind playing with her hair and brushing her skin. She would awake in a cold sweat with tears running down her cheeks, itching to feel the breeze on her skin.
It happened on a particularly beautiful night, when the stars were bright and the sky was clear. She sat looking at the open expanse of blue, listening to the owls and other creatures of the night. She began to sob,
